A tragedy was recently averted in Tirana's "Skënderbej" Square, where a car without license plates, driven by Lezghin citizen Viktor Ndoka , speeded into the middle of the square, endangering the lives of people and a group of tourists who were at the scene at the time.
According to journalist Elton Qyno, it is reported that Viktor Ndoka, who was traveling in a "Toyota Versus" type vehicle without license plates, quickly broke through the iron railings placed at the entrance to "Skënderbej" Square, performing dangerous maneuvers, endangering the lives of citizens, on the afternoon of May 5.
It is learned that the Lezghian had recently returned from England, where he lived for 10 consecutive years.
It is also said that Ndoka was traveling at high speed on " Zogu i I " Boulevard and at the same speed headed towards " Skënderbej " Square, from where he collided with stones placed near the National Museum.
Immediately upon noticing Ndoka's movement, which caused panic among citizens, two Municipal Police officers who were near the scene intervened, enabling the vehicle to be neutralized.
Elton Qyno reveals that the two officers were Arkid Rizvani and Rigers Kasa, who ran to intervene and neutralize the perpetrator.
After Ndoka's car crashed into the rocks, one of the municipal police officers, Rigers Kasa, was able to take the car keys from the steering wheel and then applied the handbrake, thus stopping the car.
At the moment of the stop, the Lezha resident began to shout loudly for them to leave him alone, stating that he was headed to the American Embassy, with the intention of denouncing the mayor of Lezha.
In relation to this event, the Tirana Prosecution Office registered criminal proceedings under No. 6342 on charges of "Disturbance of public order and peace" and "Opposition of an employee performing a state duty".
For the citizen who endangered the lives of dozens of people, Viktor Ndoka, the prosecution requested the imposition of the security measure "prison arrest" for a period of 2 months.
Meanwhile, the Tirana Court sentenced Ndoka to 45 days in prison.
We recall that this is the second time that a car, after 32-year-old Arben Mema, terrorized the capital by driving into the middle of Skanderbeg Square on the afternoon of April 25, 2021.
For this event, the Tirana Court imposed the measure of "prison arrest" on Arben Mema./syri
