They took €50-100 to allow the wanted persons to cross the border, 6

Six officers were left in handcuffs for arrest and abuse of office after receiving €50-100 to allow the passage to the EU of citizens who were denied entry to the Schengen area. They are Kalosh Sula, Luan Çelaj, Marsel Farruku, Naim Kadrimi, Isametin Vranezi, Eduart Matmuja.

Police notification

On 21.02.2023, the Directorate of Investigation at the Police Supervision Agency, executed the Criminal Decision of the Court of First Instance of Durrës for the appointment of the personal security measure "Imprisonment" for police officers:

1- Inspector Kalosh Arif Sula, born on 06.04.1966, with supervisory duties at the PKK-Port Durrës Police Station

2- Inspector Luan Idriz Çelaj, born on 03.04.1981, with supervisory duties at the PKK-Port Durrës Police Station

3- Inspector Marsel Idriz Farruku, born on 28.02.1993, with supervisory duties at the PKK-Port Durrës Police Station

4- Inspector Naim Muhamet Kadrimi , date of birth 15.02.1963 with control duties at the PKK-Port Durrës Police Station

5- Inspector Isametin Emin Vranezi, born on 13.05.1995, with supervisory duties at the PKK-Port Durrës Police Station

6- Inspector Eduart Nuri Matmuja, born on 03.02.1975 with supervisory duties at the PKK-Port Durrës Police Station

The execution of the security measures was carried out in function of the criminal proceedings registered by the Durrës Judicial District Prosecutor's Office for the criminal offenses of "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions" and "Abuse of office".

From the investigations carried out, it results that the above police officers, abusing the attributes given to them by the duty at the PKK Port Durrës, allowed the entry and exit of citizens who had travel bans in the Schengen area in exchange for monetary values, which varied from 5 up to 100 euros.

These corrupt interactions, documented during the investigations, were carried out continuously and repeatedly, including cases of allowing the passage of citizens declared wanted by the justice authorities, or vehicles that were not subject to the customs regime.

Also, the Court of First Instance of Durrës, as a function of this proceeding, has assigned personal security measures "Compulsion to appear in the judicial police" for 20 citizens, suspected of the criminal offense of "Active corruption against persons exercising public functions".

From the investigations carried out, it has been found that these citizens have carried out corrupt interactions with the police officers mentioned above. Investigations continue to identify other persons involved in this illegal activity.
