A police officer has been suspended from duty, on the charge of abuse of duty.

According to the Police Supervision Agency, the policeman was denounced by a doctor for pulling out his service weapon during a medical visit to the Gjirokastra hospital:

The Police Surveillance Agency (Vlora - Gjirokastër Region) in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction Gjirokastër, has executed the personal security measure "Suspension of the exercise of a duty or public service" against the SK employee, with military duty service in the Sector for the implementation of supplementary measures for the control of the territory in the Local Directorate of Border and Migration Gjirokastër, suspected of the criminal offense "Abuse of duty".

The appointment of the security measure became possible after the report of the citizen JL, a doctor at the "Omer Nishani" hospital in Gjirokastër, regarding the incident of 25.10.2024, where this police officer drew his service weapon during a medical visit.
