"The large number of young Albanians arrested for drug dealing in Umbria has recently reached a level that highlights a phenomenon." This is how the media ' Umbria 24 ' begins its article about the arrests of young Albanians in Italy.

According to Italian media, this is likely to signal something even more alarming in the works, potentially exploiting a vulnerability.

"What has emerged from recent Umbria news reports, combined with the fact that these young people, from the same town, concentrated in a small regional area and engaged in intensive drug trafficking activities, documented over time or caught with significant amounts of drugs, money and packaging equipment, describes a phenomenon that demands attention," writes Umbria24, noting that the latest case was discovered today, two others yesterday and many more in the last month of August.

On August 28, law enforcement arrested a 23-year-old Albanian man who was caught red-handed driving during a roadside check in Spoleto. Inside the vehicle, approximately 20 grams of cocaine, divided into 37 sealed doses, were found, along with 780 euros in cash, the alleged proceeds of drug trafficking.

In the first half of August, two people – a local woman and a 25-year-old Albanian man with a criminal record – were detained after checks. On 13 August, a 24-year-old Albanian man was stopped in Perugia after trying to evade a traffic stop, with 16 grams of cocaine. The young man, already known to the security forces, was arrested and given a residence ban.

On August 14, in Bastia Umbra, a 25-year-old Albanian was found with ten packets of cocaine and approximately 100 euros after being stopped. He was also placed under arrest in Umbria.

Similar situations occurred on August 20: in the same city, a 25-year-old Albanian was arrested with the same amount of drugs and money, while in Foligno, another 25-year-old Albanian was found with 51 packets of cocaine in a rental car, a discovery made during an anti-drug trafficking operation.

On August 21 in Perugia, a 27-year-old Albanian man with no criminal record was arrested with 67 grams of cocaine divided into 96 doses and almost 4,700 euros in cash. Just a few days later, on the night between August 25 and 26 in Perugia, a 21-year-old Albanian man, in Italy on a tourist visa and with no criminal record, almost crashed into a patrol car while driving in the wrong direction. After the search, the police found 28 doses of cocaine totaling 18 grams and almost 1,000 euros.

Also on August 26, in Bastia Umbra, a 23-year-old Albanian man who had recently arrived in Italy on a tourist visa was arrested. Stopped at a checkpoint, he was found in possession of seven doses of cocaine totaling 4.5 grams and approximately 200 euros.

Completing this series of operations, on 27 August in Gualdo Tadino, a 19-year-old of Albanian origin residing in the province of Turin was reported for possession with intent to sell during a routine patrol. On the same day in Terni, the deportation procedure for a 21-year-old Albanian arrested the previous days for drug-related offences was concluded with a rapid repatriation, an operation coordinated by the local authorities and the Prosecutor's Office.

Italian media writes that the cases could be even more, as there are other cases that have not been mentioned because they are under investigation.

"It should also be noted that the drug retail network is often the most exposed and vulnerable and also the one that makes the most noise."
