Gjergj Cukali

The Special Court sentences Gjergj Cukali to 25 years in prison, Enver Jakim and Ermond Jakim to eight years, Blendi Deda to 20 years, Paris Prenga to 18 years and Flor Abazi to 19 years.

Gjergj Cukali, known as the strongman of "Myslym Shyr", is a well-known character in the world of crime.

Cukali is accused of being the orderer of placing the tritol in the car of the businessman Gjon Mena in Kamëz on February 9, 2021. The police arrested Gjergj Cukali and his two brothers, Ermond and Enver Jakimi, for the assassination with the tritol in Kamëz.

But his criminal history did not start in 2021, but in 2004, where he was accused of hostage-taking.

On November 24, 2006, the Court of Serious Crimes convicted Gjergji Cukali on the charge of illegal deprivation of liberty against citizen FD, an event that occurred in 2004.

Meanwhile, in July 2016, he was arrested as part of the coded operation "Tangent", where Cukali was the leader of a cocaine distribution network.

In collaboration with each other, the members of the group allegedly distributed cocaine narcotics in different areas of Tirana such as "Myslym Shyri", ex-Blloku, "Ëillson" square, on "Ali Demi" street, in the Porcelani area and on the street of Elbasan.

Through procedural actions and using special methods, the Tirana Police documented the criminal activity of this group. The investigations proved that the arrested citizens procured the narcotics through Gjergji Cukali and then distributed them, according to the orders received from the customers.

Cukali also had another identity, which was revealed to him immediately after his arrest in 2016. At that time, Top Chanel provided forged documents with the identity of Ergi Hoxha. The biometric passport, identity card and license with the same name were seized by the police, who also charged Cukali with falsifying documents.

After a year in prison, Gjergji Cukali managed to get out again. A decision of the Criminal College of the Supreme Court, dated May 24, 2017, granted freedom to Gjergji Cukali by imposing a "house arrest" security measure. The Criminal Panel of the Supreme Court argued that it was decided that Gjergji Cukali should remain under "house arrest" due to his health condition. It turns out that the "strong Myslym Shyr" suffered from bronchial asthma and had frequent seizures.

Gjergj Cukali could not stay away from trouble again. In 2018, he was arrested again for breaking the security measure.

In 2019, he was arrested as the main accused for the murder of former police officer Arben Bilali on January 30.
