For three weeks now, Laert Haxhiu, sentenced to life imprisonment for the 2017 "Lushnja Massacre" in which Zamir Latifi, a friend of Aldo Bare, and Jurgen Hoxha were killed, has been transferred to the high-security prison of Drenova.

Meanwhile, lawyer Detar Hysi filed an appeal with the High Court against the decision of the Appeals Court of the Kosovo Criminal Court that upheld the life sentence.

Among the arguments presented to the Supreme Court, lawyer Hysi listed the fact that the Appeal of the GJKKO exceeded its competence. According to him, the decision is not in accordance with the law and that an attempt is being made to open a murder saga in the city of Lushnja.

He also adds that one member of the Appeals Panel of the GJKKO voted for not guilty for the massacre.
