The investigation into the execution of 27-year-old Albanian Sulo Halili in Skurta, Vojvodina, is taking a new turn, as Greek authorities are examining the possibility of mistaken identity. The victim, found dead and burned in a wooded area, had been reported missing since November 4, while his identification was confirmed by DNA analysis.

One of the main clues is that the perpetrators may have confused the 27-year-old with another Albanian with the same first and last name, known for criminal records and involved in criminal activity. Investigators point out that the two people have physical similarities and the same nominative identity, while the victim had no criminal record.

Another scenario is related to a possible conflict with Halil's girlfriend's ex-partner, who allegedly threatened him earlier. Police are verifying any possible communication or meeting before his disappearance.

The 27-year-old's family denies any connection to the underworld, stating that he was a quiet man, a construction worker and married. Another lead being investigated is a suspicious contact on social media, as Halili had been communicating for months with a girl, whom he may have gone to meet on the day he disappeared.

Authorities have seized the victim's and family members' phones, are analyzing messages on TikTok and other platforms, and are verifying security cameras to reconstruct his recent movements.

The finding of a bullet fragment in his body has led investigators to suspect an execution carried out by people with criminal experience, who then attempted to destroy the evidence by burning the body.

Investigations continue with intensity, while Greek police are expected to publish new developments in the coming days.
