The Criminal Court of Kosovo has sentenced businessman Rezart Taçi to 11 years in prison , accused of laundering 18.3 million euros of the Italian mafia Cosa Nostra in our country.
The Special Court has also ordered the confiscation of 18.3 million euros deposited in Albanian banks by Italians suspected of being linked to Cosa Nostra, which it is suspected that Taci would launder through transactions through oil companies.
The businessman was tried in absentia for "money laundering" and "structured criminal group" after being on the run since 2021, while for 4 Italian suspects, SPAK has separated the case and sent them to Italy where the process continues.
Respectively, the process has been separated for citizens Frencesco Zummo, Ignazio Zumo, Fabio Petruzzella and Daniele Cestagalli.
18.4 million euros of the Italian mafia 'Cosa Nostra' were blocked in a bank in Albania in November 2021 and then confiscated.
SPAK says that Taci would launder money by moving to several banks in several countries and would take a percentage.
SPAK's investigations state that Artur Balla and Bledar Lilo played an active role in helping Italians Francesco Zummo and economist Fabio Petruzzella open bank accounts and make money transfers for their laundering.
