Leonard Duka, accused as one of the perpetrators of the murder of Santiago Malko in 2019, was extradited from Belgium this Friday.

From the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime, Duka has been ordered to be arrested and imprisoned for the murder of the former operative, but also as part of a structured criminal group.

Santiago Malko, former employee of the Tirana Police, was killed on the evening of August 27, 2019 in a well-organized assassination attempt. The incident took place in the area of ​​Porcelan on "Xhanfize Keko" street, when the car of 26-year-old Malko was fired at by another moving car.

Leonard Duka gained fame and attention after clashing with the former king of gambling, Ervis Martinaj. From friends, they turned into sworn enemies, hatching plans to physically eliminate each other.

The planned attack on Dhërmi beach

Ervis Martinaj was planned, among others, to be killed by Fatmir Hyseni (Doqja) and the "Klani Duka" in the middle of the summer season, in the Dhërmi area. He escaped several assassination attempts and plans of his rivals, but as it appears in the SPAK file, in the last days of July 2020 fate saved him.

Leonard Duka had provided information that Ervis Martinaj could be on the beach with a woman in Dhërmi at a place known as "Vin Bakalli", Jaht Hotel or Splendor, and Fatmiri Hysen has informed this. As soon as he received the information, " "Doqja" has been set in motion.

He has sent a person addressed as "nephew" to go to that area to verify this information. Also, on July 28-29 and 30, 2020, Leonard Duka and Fatmir Hyseni engaged people to monitor the Dhërmi-Himarë beach area in order to find the citizen Ervis Martinaj. At the same time, they were engaged in providing logistics, weapons, vehicles and apartments in that area with the aim of carrying out the murder.

One of the people involved in the location of Ervis Martinaj in the area of ​​Dhërmi-Himarë was the citizen Drianto Bardhi, who traveled to that area together with another person who has not yet been identified and there they also met with the person that Fatmir Hyseni i addressed by the name "nephews".

However, it is unclear what happened that this plan failed, but referring to the investigative file, there is no continuation of this plan. As if by coincidence, Ervis Martinaj disappeared two years later, in the same period of the year, but in 2022.

Martinaj trapped the Duke with girls, how the plan was revealed

After the failure of the plan to kill Ervis Martinaj in the south of the country in the last days of July 2020, Leonard Duka provides information that his rival had hired several women to approach him in order to ambush him.

Leonard Duka immediately tells this fact to Fatmir Hysen and they commit to planning the murder of the people who will approach to kill Leonard. All the members of the group led by Leonard Duka participated in this planning, where the latter would play the role of "bait" who would meet with these women in a place where the terrain is well known by himself and his connections.

Leonard Duka's brother, Erlis Duka, to precede all events and within the framework of the commitment to turn from bait to executor, has met with a person "Sandri" who is suspected to be the owner of the object that will be carried out Leonard's meeting with women and asked him to turn off the cameras. The citizen Fatmir Hyseni had the role of executor and traveled from Vlora and was deployed to Tirana together with other persons not yet identified, they also brought logistics (weapons and vehicles that will be used to leave the scene).

Meanwhile, the citizen Altin Gega would be positioned somewhere for observation in order to identify the persons who would approach for the murder of Leonard Duka. This role would be performed by Altin Gega since he knew all the people who were Ervis Martinaj's connections and in this way the executioners would not have deviations in the objective, according to the SPAK file. Altin Gega would also have the role of the person who would wait for the executioners to remove them from the scene after committing the murder.

The citizen Drianto Bardhi would use a motorcycle together with another person who has not yet been identified and had the role of observer and follow the people who would approach with the intention of killing Leonard Duka. The latter himself and his associates have raised suspicions that in order to carry out his murder on the day of the meeting with the women, the citizen Erigers Mihasi, known by the nickname "Boli", and another person who is suspected to be a police officer called with the name "Olci", according to the SPAK file.

On 12.08.2020, Leonard Duka contacted the women with whom he would organize the meeting, but they were not available to meet on this date because one was in Shkodër while the other had commitments.

Since this plan failed, members of the Duke Clan committed themselves to the murder of Eriger Mihas and the other person they suspected would execute Leonard Duke. Referring to SPAK factions, immediately after the failure of the above plan, Leonard Duka, Fatmir Hyseni, Erlis Duka, Altin Gega, Drianto Bardhi and other persons not yet identified organized with the aim of killing citizens Erigers Mihasi and the person they called "Olci ".

They are organized by providing logistics, defining tasks and carrying out active actions. The murder of citizens Erigers Mihasi and the person they call "Olci" was not carried out for objective reasons independent of the organizers and participants, the file states.

Meanwhile, to this day, Ervis Martinaj, one of the most powerful crime figures in the country, has disappeared without a trace. Many hypotheses have been put forward for his disappearance, from the alliance of criminal groups to get rid of him, to the possibility that he himself withdrew from the activity, due to the great offensive of his rivals.
