The cases of theft in the tourist towns on the coast have increased significantly in recent days. It seems that thieves are taking advantage of these hot summer days for local and foreign tourists in coastal cities such as Vlora, Saranda and Himara.

A woman has fallen victim to theft on the promenade of Himara, by a 41-year-old man who has already been handcuffed by the police. Earlier in the day, a thief was caught stealing money from several apartments in Saranda.

The most frequent thefts are recorded by the sea, when thieves guard beachgoers while bathing to steal their personal belongings, but also when they leave their homes just to spend a few hours on the beach.

A 41-year-old man with a previous record for various criminal offenses stole a purse with money and gold jewelry from a woman on the promenade of the city of Himara.

The police seize the amount of money and the stolen jewelry.

The arrested, suspected author of another theft committed on June 23, in an apartment in Himare.

As a result of non-stop patrolling in the field, quick investigative actions and close cooperation with citizens, in order to prevent and attack criminal activities during the tourist season, the services of the Himar Police Station have organized and finalized the coded police operation "Pocket", in within which FM citizen, 41 years old, resident of Fier, was captured and imprisoned.

The 41-year-old man, with a previous record for domestic violence and illegal border crossing, was caught immediately after stealing from a citizen, on the promenade of the city of Himara, a wallet with money and gold jewelry, with a total value of about 60,000 Lek.

The stolen items were seized by the Police, as material evidence.

From the investigative actions, it turned out that the 41-year-old is also the suspected author of the theft of 3 mobile phones, in the apartment of a citizen, a theft committed on June 26, 2023, in Himare.

The work continues to reveal and document other thefts that may have been committed by this citizen.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecution at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Vlora, for further actions.
