Himara is expected to go to new elections, as tomorrow the Central Election Commission will meet to examine the validity of the mandate of the Mayor of Himara, Dhionisios (Alfred) Beleri.
Dhionisis Alfred Beleri committed corruption in the local elections, as he was also declared the winner of the Himar Municipality. But during the 13 months in custody, this mandate did not become functional as he did not take an oath. The direct consequence of the appeal decision is the loss of the mandate as the elected mayor of Himare municipality.
The Court of Special Appeal found the 52-year-old guilty. He was sentenced to two years in prison for active corruption in elections.
"Draft decision "On the review of the validity of the mandate of the Mayor of Himara, Mr. Dhionisios (Alfred) Petro Beleri, proposed by the electoral subject Coalition "Bashke Fitomje", for the elections for local government bodies on May 14, 2023", announces CEC.
