The police in cooperation with the special forces of RENEA today arrested Astrit Avdyli, also known by the surnames Balliu and Sulejmani, this Saturday, a few weeks after he was declared wanted by SPAK.
The 50-year-old, nicknamed "Ničja", is considered the leader of a criminal group in this area and was handcuffed in his apartment. During the detention, this pistol-type firearm with combat ammunition was also seized.
Avdylaj was declared wanted at the request of SPAK, which has raised suspicions that he is involved in providing the conditions for the murder of Durim Bami.
The communications in the "Sky" application showed how Astrit Avdyli was communicating with the former deputy Arben Ndoka and offered to help him in the plan for the physical elimination of Durim Bami.
Avdylaj sent his nephew, Aldo Avdylin and Arben Merkur, to Ndoka to realize the goal. On the other hand, Astrit Avdylaj is also accused of having organized, in cooperation with other persons, the illegal entry of his nephew from Montenegro into Albania in order to carry out the murder and then have an alibi.
The disappearance of the gambling boss, Ervis Martinaj, brought the name of Astri Avdylaj back to the media and in front of the authorities. The latter turned out to be Martinaj's last contact, before disappearing without a trace on August 9, 2022.
Two months after the disappearance of Martinaj, while his fate was a mystery, the police conducted several checks in several areas of Albania where different criminal groups operate. Avdylajt was among them. The Special Forces surrounded the area where the Avdylajs live and searched their homes, hoping to find traces of the missing.
Astrit Avdylaj was also questioned by the Kurbin prosecutor's office as a person who knows about the circumstances of the investigation, but he denied that he knew about Martinaj's fate or had contact with him.
Astrit Avdylaj has also faced justice earlier for accusations of drug trafficking and crimes against life.
