Phosmet is a chemical previously used in agriculture to combat insects, but has been banned in many countries due to the risks it poses to health and the environment.

This pesticide can cause severe poisoning in humans. Those exposed to it may experience symptoms such as headaches, dizziness and vomiting, difficulty breathing and muscle weakness, memory problems and nerve damage with long-term use.

In more severe cases, it can even cause coma or serious problems with the nervous system.

This pesticide was banned for use in the European Union and the United States of America because it is very harmful to workers and food consumers, can contaminate soil and water, and is dangerous to bees and beneficial insects.

Products containing residues of this chemical may be rejected from international markets.
