SPAK Chief Prosecutor, Altin Dumani, has responded to Prime Minister Edi Rama regarding the security measures being imposed on persons under investigation.

Rama declared this morning that he will no longer accept arrests "without trial" by SPAK. Meanwhile, Dumani declared that the attempt to call SPAK a repressive institution has failed.

" First of all, in every security measure we request, we are well aware of the criteria of the Criminal Procedure Code and we try to be strict in determining the security measure. Every investigation has its own dynamics, but the attempt to establish SPAK as a repressive institution is a failed attempt. SPAK has published the total number of detainees on behalf of SPAK in relation to the number of detainees in Albania. Less than 9% and these are for criminal offenses related to organized crime.

As for criminal offenses of corruption and offenses committed in the course of duty, it is all geography. 49% were investigated at large, were investigated with house arrest, detention abroad.
