EU confirms support for Justice Reform

The European Union reaffirms its unconditional support for justice reform in general and the Special Prosecution Office in particular.

Present at the roundtable on justice organized in Tirana, the European Union Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, emphasized the importance of trust in justice institutions and stressed that independence and accountability are necessary elements for a democratic society.

"We will continue working with SPAK and justice. We must have confidence in the architecture of justice reform. Accountability and independence lie at the core of every democratic society. Independence must be balanced, such as the review of independence. All actors have their role to play. We have seen results in fighting organized, cyber and financial crime. We will continue to support justice reform," said the EU ambassador.
