"The nation is above every party!" - Protest for the Albanian
Student protest

Hundreds of students from Albania, North Macedonia and Kosovo gathered in Tirana today, in a rally in support of Albanian students in North Macedonia, while also delivering speeches in front of the North Macedonian embassy in Tirana, where they again demanded the holding of the jurisprudence exam in the Albanian language.

During the protest, the students emphasized that they will not retreat until their demands are met and that they demand respect for the Albanian identity and nation.

"Albanian brothers and sisters, you have no idea how proud I am to see you all here united. Today we are not gathered here simply for a protest, but for our national dignity, for Albanian students in Macedonia, and for the Albanian language which is our identity."

We cannot remain silent when Albanians are affected, when the language that our ancestors have bequeathed to us is affected, because it is our blood, history and pride. We do not ask for mercy, we ask for respect for our students, for our identity and for the Albanian nation. Today we show that Albanian students are not afraid to raise their voices for their nation , "said one of the students.

Meanwhile, another student emphasized that Albanians are not alone in this cause and that Albania and Kosovo will stand by them until their demands are met.

"They thought that Albanian students in the RMV are alone, but they forgot that an entire Albania has the eyes of the mind and heart on them. The taste of power made some people's blood boil, made them wonder whether the cause of Albanian students is worth it or not. They didn't care how 40 young Albanian students from Tirana were subjected to psychological terror for eight hours on the streets of Macedonia. But, out of desperation for power... shame, shame, shame ," he declared.

"Don't think that your voice is not heard. Every young person who joins becomes a force for this nation. We must see it as a duty to our nation, not to be an indifferent generation, to be the generation that joined, that spoke and defended the Albanian language with pride because the nation is kept alive by those who do not give up on it! ", said another student present at the protest.

The Albanian students were joined in the protest by journalist Marin Mema, who emphasized that national unity is above any political division and that Albanians will fight for a palm of Albanian land.

"We will become 100 times more, all together, because the nation, the nation is above every party. The red and black colors are above every other color, and we young people seek the nation, which we love with all our hearts without any interest. We will fight every day for Albania and every inch of Albanian lands," he said.

Student Jon Bislimi, an Albanian of Kosovo origin, born and raised in France, warned in his speech that protests will also take place in Pristina tomorrow.

"Students have always been at the forefront of every social and national movement. Today they woke up in Skopje, today we are here in Tirana, and tomorrow it must continue in Pristina," he said to the protesters in Skanderbeg Square.

Bislimi emphasized that Albanians are not "guests", but "hosts", while adding that affecting the rights of an Albanian student in Skopje is the same as affecting students in Tirana, Pristina or Presevo.

His speech also included calls for the protection of the Albanian language in institutions and universities, while the crowd responded with chants of "KLA, KLA."
