SPAK, in collaboration with the Anti-Mafia of Bari, conducted an operation in the early hours of the morning against a criminal group suspected of money laundering and drug trafficking with activity in Albania and Italy.
The investigations that led to the discovery of the criminal group began after the execution of Italian citizen Francesco Divisti , 26 years old, an event that occurred on April 25, 2025 in Barletta, Italy.
According to Italian authorities, Divisti was initially involved in a conflict in a bar and then taken to an isolated area in Casosa di Puglia, where he was executed with five bullets from two different weapons.
The perpetrators then attempted to burn his body by setting fire to several tires, according to a method used by criminal groups in the 1990s in that area.
Due to the manner of execution, the case was taken under investigation by the Bari Anti-Mafia Directorate, which managed to locate the body within four days.
Investigations revealed that Albanian citizen Igli Kamberi, considered by the authorities to be the leader of the criminal group, was also involved in the incident. He was arrested in July 2025 and is accused of being the author of Divisti's murder.
Meanwhile, on June 25, 2025, another Albanian citizen involved in the case, who had fled Italy two days after the murder, was arrested in the Hungarian city of Roszke with 24 kilograms of pure cocaine.
During the investigation, authorities also seized over 412 thousand euros in cash from family members of the people involved and documented the involvement of three Italian citizens in the criminal activity.
According to SPAK and Italian authorities, the investigation into the murder of Divisti was further expanded, revealing a structured criminal network involved in international drug trafficking and money laundering from Italy to Albania.
One of the key episodes of the investigation is related to the seizure of over 680 thousand euros at the Muriqani border crossing point, in November 2024. The amount was being attempted to enter Albania by vehicle and is suspected to belong to this criminal group. The seizure was carried out by the State Police following information received from the DIA Operational Center in Bari.
As part of the operation conducted this Tuesday in Albania, Ergys Kastrati alias "Bishja" , who has been internationally wanted by Italian authorities for two years, was also arrested. His wife, Desmira Ceco , and two drivers suspected of transporting dirty money were also arrested with him .
The Special Court has also ordered preventive seizure of 4 commercial companies, 8 vehicles, 10 bank accounts, as well as the amount of 680,595 euros in cash seized in Muriqan.
