Igli Kamberi and Ergys Kastrati are known as two of the main characters of the criminal group that was destroyed after a joint investigation by SPAK and the Italian anti-mafia.
Kamberi is considered the leader of the criminal group in the field of money laundering.
Italian authorities, in addition to the murder of a 24-year-old barber in Italy, also accuse him of other episodes, such as storing 24 kilograms of drugs in blocks in a garage in the industrial area of Barletta, in collaboration with two Italians, or even for possession of 11 kilograms of cocaine, seized last December.
Another important figure in the group is Ergys Kastrati alias alias Bishja. He had been internationally wanted for two years, by both Albanian and Italian authorities. Special forces have handcuffed him in one of the capital's luxurious residences, near TEG.
The two, as well as other members of the group, or those associated with them, have had 23 assets seized, worth millions of euros. Among the assets seized by decision of the Special Court following the request of SPAK prosecutors, Vladimir Mara and Dritan Prençi, are four businesses, 680 thousand euros in cash, 8 bank accounts and 10 vehicles.
The largest number of assets are in the name of a character named Bardhok Gjergji, whose connection to the group is still unclear. Gjergji's car sales and rental business, "AUTO REND & SELL - ALBANIA", has been seized, along with all the shares, shares and assets of this trading company, established in 2017. Along with Bardhok Gjergji's business, 5 cars of different brands and a bank account have also been seized.
The head of the Igli Kamberi group himself has had a business seized in his name, a restaurant and catering service, opened in August 2024 with an address in Kashar, Tirana.
Two bank accounts placed under preventive seizure belong to Igli Kamberi's wife, Nevila Kamberi, and her mother, Dituri Buzi. While his father, Fatos Buzi, had a business called "Fermer Fatos Buzi" seized for the production of fruits and vegetables in Mbrostar, Fier.
Ergys Kastrati's wife, Desmira Ceco, has also had two bank accounts frozen. While the other assets frozen are in the names of other characters, the connection to the group is still unknown. These are two bank accounts in the name of Saimir Pirra, as well as one of his vehicles, 2 bank accounts in the name of Sokol Fusha, a business and a bank account in the name of Lefter Nelaj, as well as two vehicles of Edi Brahaj. The administrator of Nelaj's business, a construction company in Laç, turns out to be the owner of the vehicle rental company Bardhok Gjergji.
Lefter Nelaj, a 53-year-old from Fushë Miloti, has also been seized with the sum of 680,595 euros that was discovered on November 14, 2024, while he was trying to bring it into Albania through the Muriqani border crossing in Shkodra.
The seizure of assets reveals an interesting fact about the entire group, its distribution across a wide territory of the country with businesses, from south to north, with the aim of laundering dirty money obtained from drug trafficking and extortion.
