The blocking of magistrates' salaries in the Treasury has brought numerous reactions. The Judge of the Administrative Court, Afërdita Caco, has reacted publicly to the situation, raising concerns about the financial consequences that the delay in salaries brings for judges and their families.
Through a post on social media, she mentions loan payments and family expenses, while also linking the situation to the issue of judicial independence.
" The judge's salary cannot be reduced, but it can be blocked altogether, so don't pay loans, food, or clothing for children since school starts, because the rule of law for some means the legislature, executive, and justice should be in the hands of one person ," the judge writes.
In her reaction, she also criticizes legal initiatives that, according to her, conflict with the Constitution.
" The adoption of another unconstitutional law only prolongs the ordeal of injustice, but does not make the law above the Constitution. Anyone who considers that they can stand above the Constitution is not reflecting enough ," she continues.
Regardless of the situation, the judge emphasizes that work will continue normally and that magistrates will exercise their duties while respecting the Constitution and the law.
" We will continue to perform our duties with maximum responsibility even in difficult and unprecedented conditions, faithfully obeying the Constitution and then the laws ," concludes Caco.
