The protest of residents in Vlora continues for more than an hour amid tensions and civic revolt, due to the lack of drinking water for days.
The protest began yesterday, and continued today with roadblocks, sloganeering, accusations of financial abuse, and demands for the resignation of senior officials, including the line minister, Belinda Balluku.
In the heat of the moment, they destroyed one of the signs that provided details about the Water Supply Company.
"This is where our money went. Shame on you, they're resigning. We come home from work and can't even wash ourselves," said some of them, as they were seen hitting signs and expressing civic anger.
Meanwhile, other citizens say they cannot enjoy a new year while they have no water at home. They even compare the situation to a death knell.
"Vlora is in ruins! The city is burning, these people are fighting," they accused.
There were also roadblocks, with an ambulance even getting stuck in the crowd.
Residents reacted quickly by opening the road, saying they had nothing to do with the sick.
