Greek MEP Afroditi Latinopoulou has called for the expulsion of the Albanian ambassador over the incident in Zvërnec.

"What is happening in Northern Epirus is tragic," said Afroditi Latinopoulou, chairwoman of the "Voice of Reason" party, speaking to SKAI , referring to the incidents that occurred last Saturday in Zvërnec in Albania, where a Greek miner was raped by private guards.

"The government must speak seriously, seriously, openly, publicly and in a pan-European manner regarding the expulsion of the Albanian ambassador," she declared.

She then said that, regarding the statements of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, she emphasized that "you have to tell me if there is a Greek now who feels proud of Rama's statements, do you think we feel proud when we see Rama enter and make noise in our country and give election speeches and hold rallies?"
