The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, has reacted to Macedonian media reports about the obstruction of the passage of two North Macedonian MPs at the Qafë Thana border crossing.
In a statement to the media, Hita explained that four citizens presented themselves at the border crossing, three of whom had diplomatic passports.
According to him, these people were informed that they could continue their journey, while another person accompanying them was not allowed to pass due to a legal obstacle in Albania.
"Yesterday, 4 citizens presented themselves at the Qafë Thana border crossing, 3 of them had diplomatic passports. They were informed that they could continue their journey, but one person accompanying them had legal obstacles in Albania and was unable to travel to the Republic of Albania. The other 3 refused to continue their journey and returned to Macedonia," Hita declared.
The Head of the State Police emphasized that the case is not special and that border controls are part of the usual police work procedures.
"This is not an isolated case. During 2025, we returned 10 other people in 628 cases. It is daily work and there is no room for panic," said Hita.
