The decision for the accused in the Fier incinerator case will be made on December 19 in the Special Court of Appeal.

Among the defendants is the former Minister of Environment Lefter Koka, his subordinate Alqi Blako and 10 other accused.

The case in Appeal was opened at the request of the lawyers of the defendants, who also requested the receipt of some new testimonies and evidence, but also of SPAK.

The latter requested the annulment of the first-instance decision regarding the acquittals granted to Arben Dervishaj, Juri Imeraj and Arjola Kodra, as well as to Alqi Ballko, who was found not guilty of abuse of office.

We recall that the First Degree convicted Lefter Koka, Alqi Bllakon, Klodian Zoto and 12 other defendants for this affair. The former Minister of the Environment was sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison, Klodian Zoto to 8 years, meanwhile the former General Secretary in the Ministry of the Environment Alqi Blako was sentenced to 2 years and 8 months in prison, as a result of the change of charge.

SPAK had requested 7 years in prison for him, but Blako was acquitted of the charge of "abuse of duties of a high state functionary", and the criminal offense was reclassified as "abuse of duties of an official performing a public duty".
