The person who raped journalist Ilir Demalia is identified

The person who raped analyst and journalist Ilir Demalia has been identified by the Tirana Police and a search has been launched to arrest him. He is a citizen with the initials RS, whose car was blocked at the scene.

"Today, on 01.07.2026, at around 12:00, on "Çamëria" street, it is suspected that, for weak motives, a journalist, citizen ID, was punched, who was transported to the hospital to receive medical assistance.

Immediately after receiving the notification, the Police services went to the scene and, thanks to rapid investigative actions, it was possible to identify the suspected perpetrator of the incident, a RS citizen, who has been declared wanted. Intensive work continues to locate and capture him," the Police announced.

Following procedural actions, the vehicle used by the suspected perpetrator was blocked and seized, while the investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, continues actions to fully legally document the circumstances of the incident.

From the hospital, analyst and journalist Ilir Demalia stated that he was raped by two people as soon as he left his apartment on "Çamëria" street, after these people claimed that he had notified the Police to fine them for parking in the courtyard of the building.

"Nothing, I was leaving the house and two people from the neighborhood who have a shop there attacked me. A policeman was giving me a ticket for illegal parking. They punched me because they said I had called the police, but I hadn't."

They raped me in front of the police. The police are looking for them, they found them, but I don't know if they caught them. Is there a state here? I filed a complaint. They raped me with fists, there were two of them," Ilir Demalia told "Shqipëria Live".
