The Police Surveillance Agency has arrested a police officer as he is suspected of being connected to the three persons arrested earlier, Eneo Sulejmanaj, Shkëlqim Ostreni and Ildi Begaj.

According to journalist Esido Barkaj, the operative of the Operational Forces Ervis Shkurta has long been associated with criminal groups dealing with the trafficking and sale of narcotics.

Even on Thursday evening when the anti-drugs arrested the 3 young men, Skurta was close to the scene and as soon as he saw that his colleagues intervened, he notified the other criminal group who were waiting to take the cocaine to leave quickly.

His name came out after the analysis of mobile phones where the agents found conversations between the arrested and a person named 'Visi i Pazari'.

The latter was connected to an English number in mobile applications with the arrested, where they communicated about the goods and the sums of lek. Meanwhile, checks continue to find Ervis Shkurta's mobile phone with an English number. Another person is wanted as being involved in the drug trafficking scheme.

The operative has denied being connected to criminal groups, but the evidence so far shows that he had long-standing acquaintances with criminal groups and was involved in the exchange of drugs, benefiting from large sums of money.

The role of the operative was to ensure the exchange of drugs and money between criminal groups. Not only that, but Skurta is suspected of having acquaintances and connections with Ervis Martinaj's criminal gang. Soon he is accused of trafficking and sale of narcotics carried out in cooperation.

The Police Supervision Agency (Tirana Region) has detained the police officer Inspector E. SH., 38 years old, effective in the Directorate of the Special Operational Force under the General Directorate of the State Police, suspected of the criminal offense "Production and sale of substances narcotics", carried out in collaboration.

The arrest of this police officer was carried out following investigations with special methods, in function of the event dated 21.03.2024, where three citizens were arrested red-handed, suspected of committing the criminal offenses "Production and sale of narcotics", " Opposition to the police officer" and "Disobedience to police officers".

As a result of intensive investigations, it became possible to secure evidence and facts on the suspicions that the police officer, Inspector E. SH, with close social ties to one of the arrested persons, was an active part of ensuring the conditions for trading of the narcotic substance of 1 Kg of suspected cocaine, as well as having full knowledge of the persons and the place where the exchange of the narcotic substance would take place.
