The former head of Dhërmi Police, Sokol Bode, was arrested this Thursday evening in Berat by operational forces.
Sokol Bode was accused by the former Serious Crimes Prosecutor's Office and then by SPAK as being involved in drug trafficking together with the Habilaj group and on April 22 of this year he was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
From which he will suffer for 8 years.
The former Vlora police officer benefited from the shortened trial, a reduction of four years.
Bode is one of three former law enforcement officers for whom an arrest warrant was issued by the Prosecutor's Office.
Sokol Bode was put in the spotlight in 2017 after photos were published in which he performed together with the Habilaj brothers, two of whom have been arrested by Italian justice a short time ago for drug trafficking.
Bode's name was in the same file with former minister Saimir Tahiri, but the case against him and Kohila was separated to be tried in absentia.
Based on the investigations of Italian and Albanian justice, former minister Tahiri also ended up in prison, after being sentenced by a final decision for "abuse of duty" on February 24. Meanwhile, SPAK's accusations against Tahir for drug trafficking and structured criminal group were dismissed as unproven.
