But how did the scheme work and how were they discovered?
The investigation shows that the director in the municipality of Tirana, Eliodor Ndini, together with the head of the cemetery in Sharre, were part of a scheme that received up to 500,000 lek for a pre-purchased grave.
The corruption was discovered after the infiltration of a police officer who had applied for a grave and was asked for the amount. For the development of the operation, special investigation methods, interceptions, observations, etc. were used.
During the interceptions, cases of abuse of duty related to the cemetery tender were also identified. The file with the wiretapping and other evidence is now in the hands of justice.
