A serious event has shocked the Albanian community in Italy. Around noon on February 22, the lifeless body of 20-year-old Riccardo Merkuri was found, who the day before had been thrown into the waters of the port of Civitanova Marche.

According to authorities, everything happened after a serious episode of violence in the family's apartment, where the 20-year-old had exercised brutal violence against his mother Albana Kastrioti, punching her in the face.

As a result of the violence, the 53-year-old suffered a fractured jaw and was found lying on the floor, bleeding and unconscious, after screams alerted neighbors around 9:00 p.m.

At the time of the incident, her husband, Mario Merkuri, was outside the apartment. After the attack, the young man left in his vehicle, leaving his cell phone at home, and headed for Civitanova Marche.

The vehicle was found near the entrance to the port. Security camera footage initially filmed it at the entrance to the port and then as it was being thrown into the sea. Another recording shows it resurfacing and being thrown again, never to be seen again.

The search operation was carried out by firefighters, Teramo rescuers, the Coast Guard and the Carabinieri. The body was found the next day.

Currently, Albana Kastriot is hospitalized in Macerata hospital in serious condition, under intensive care.

The family, of Albanian origin and in Italy for more than 20 years, is well known in the Pollença community.

The family friend speaks about this serious event in the studio of the show "Open Heart", recounting the details and the mother's serious condition.

She said that she told the show's moderator and author Evis Ahmeti that the mother knows nothing about her son's tragic fate, as he is in a coma.

" We were all at the funeral. The church was full of tears. I sat next to the girl for hours, as she cried. It would have been nicer if you had done the interview with young Albanians. I brought 47 students from Kosovo and Albania on scholarships to Italy. My friend is in a coma, after she had surgery.

I still don't know that my son is no more. There are two boys. I don't know what happened. The mother and son were there. Unfortunately, she survived. Anyone who has children, not everything goes well.

Or maybe there was an incident, maybe his mother pushed him. I don't know what happened. Imagine when they found out that Riccardo had run away from home and the police had found the car at the port, a group of young people went there in the hope of finding him. They thought he was hiding.

The cameras recorded him jumping, not once, but twice. All the media said; he was violent.

He had not been violent. His ex-girlfriend spoke in church with very kind words. They had had a 2-year relationship, their problems. We need to talk to the youth, stay closer to them. Not wait for the last moment when tragedy happens. We are all guilty, even the way we judge. Let's not get to the point where we are massacred! ", the family friend concludes her story.
