The Tirana Prosecution Office is seeking the seizure of several real estate properties belonging to a person convicted abroad for drug trafficking.
The prosecution says it has confirmed that Elton Arkaxhiu has been convicted in France, while in 2011 he was prosecuted for money laundering. For this reason, his assets have been seized.
"The Interpol office has confirmed that citizen Elton Arkaxhiu, from the verifications carried out by Interpol France, results that during that period he was subject to procedures for participation in a criminal organization mainly involved in international drug trafficking, the use of narcotics, the importation of contraband goods and goods that pose a risk to life, etc.," the Tirana Prosecution Office announced.
The prosecution says that the investigation concluded that there is a discrepancy between the source of financing (income + borrowing) and Arkadjiu's documented assets.
Previously, from the information obtained through operational means, real estate properties have been identified, the purchase of which is not justified by the income of this citizen and his family members until 2020 and is suspected of deriving from criminal activity.
It concerns a coffee bar and a business, both on "Besim Imami" Street. More specifically, the prosecution is seeking the seizure of the following assets:
1 – Property of the type land, with surface area 71.52m2 and building 37.52m2 in Tirana;
2 – Property service unit 108m2 located on Besim Imami Street; and
