Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of Defense, Ermal Nufi, participated this Friday in the opening ceremony of the National Flight School. During his speech, the head of government noted the high interest of young people in becoming part of the air force, adding that this new institution will also be open for the training and certification of pilots from NATO allied countries in the region.
Rama announced that Albania is increasing its capacities to cope with civil emergencies and the fire season, with more "Black Hawk" helicopters expected to arrive from the US soon.
"We started this effort with an extraordinary difficulty in approaching young people, but today it is increasingly difficult to choose among the many candidacies that come in. We have a considerable number of interested people.
Our Minister will ask his Kosovo counterpart if he is interested in training Kosovo pilots. The same goes for the other two neighboring countries, members of NATO.
We are also ready to face the annual challenge where firefighting is inevitable. Work is being done to increase capacities for the season. Another number of "Black Hawk" from the USA will be added to these forces. This is one step. Another step is the national school of special forces. It will welcome cadets from allied countries. May both of these new poles of education and transformation become poles of excellence. I want to wish success to the air force. I assure the naval forces that their smile will extend further, with the construction of ships in Pashaliman. We will open the doors of another joint investment with KAYO for drones that will be built and exported from the Republic of Albania, after we have met the needs of the Armed Forces", he said.
