Over 42,000 photos and videos of sexual abuse have been found on an Albanian website. The National Center for Safer Internet, iSIGURT.al, made the discovery and describes this as one of the most serious cases encountered to date.

According to the statement, during June alone, the center's experts discovered 42,624 materials on this site and immediately reported the case to police authorities, requesting that the materials be removed from the internet and that investigations be initiated.

During verification, it turned out that the photos and videos were published on a website that carries the address ".al", and this indicates that sites registered in Albania are being used to publish and distribute illegal materials.

Altin Hazizaj, director of CRCA IN Albania, said: "The fact that over 42 thousand child sexual abuse materials were identified in just one month on a website with the .AL domain is extremely alarming. This case shows that Albania is not immune to these forms of criminality and that much stronger measures are needed to monitor the internet, investigate perpetrators and protect children."

The iSIGURT.al Center calls on citizens to immediately report any material suspected of containing child sexual abuse to its platform.
