The Border Police, in cooperation with the customs authorities and the Durrës Police, found three firearms and 1580 combat cartridges hidden in a vehicle.

Their possessor has been declared wanted and work continues to capture him. The car had been abandoned in the Port of Durrës for three years after it had left Kosovo for the Republic of Congo.

Notification:

Land Rover vehicle customs transit from Kosovo to Albania with final destination the Democratic Republic of Congo, which entered the Republic of Albania through the Morina Border Crossing Point on 20.12.2022.

The container where the vehicle was located was locked in the container square in the port of Durrës since December 2022 after the sender did not show up to carry out customs actions and on 04.06.2025, the Authority of the Durrës Customs Branch decided to carry out the procedure of opening and controlling this container.

During the physical control exercised on the Land Rover vehicle, the Police services found 2 automatic firearms, 1 pistol firearm, 1580 combat cartridges of various calibers and 12 cartridge combs for automatic weapons and pistols inside the vehicle.

From the investigative and procedural actions carried out by the investigative structures of DVP Durrës and the Border Structure of the Port of Durrës for the legal documentation of this event, it has become possible to identify and declare wanted the suspected perpetrator of the possession of weapons and involved in the trafficking of weapons and ammunition from Kosovo to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Specifically, the Kosovar citizen Y. I, 24 years old, continues to work in cooperation with the Kosovo Police to locate and capture him.

The firearms will be sent to the Scientific Police Institute to undergo technical, ballistic and dactyloscopic examinations to see if they have been used in any previous criminal events.

The investigative structures of the Durrës Local Police Directorate in cooperation with the Border Police under the direction of the Durrës District Prosecutor's Office are continuing the investigative actions in cooperation with the Kosovar authorities for the complete legal documentation of this case in order to identify other persons involved in this criminal activity
