Traffic in Tirana

Heavy traffic throughout the day today has turned into a nightmare for thousands of drivers in Tirana.

Almost all roads in the capital have experienced heavy congestion, leading in some cases to their being blocked for long periods of time.

The situation was most severe during the morning hours, between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, and this evening.

One side of the Elbasan road , from the Sauk roundabout to " Xhuxhat ", is almost completely blocked.

The Mother Teresa Hospital intersection has been extremely busy throughout today and continues to be almost blocked, causing problems for the Xhamlliku and " Dibra " roads towards Kinostudio .

Several axes of the Small Ring Road , along Bajram Curri Boulevard to “ Piramida ”, are also affected by traffic . Kavaja Street is almost paralyzed, according to “live” satellite data from Google and other applications.

There is also heavy traffic on the Great Ring Road , at both ends of it, in the Selita and Paskuqan areas .

The entrance to Tirana from the Durrës highway is no exception today. The presence of traffic police has been increased at some of the most problematic intersections throughout today, but apparently, without helping the situation.

Bad weather and increased traffic during the holiday season seem to have contributed to the traffic congestion, in addition to existing problems such as narrow, worn-out roads, lack of parking spaces, and others.
