Prime Minister Edi Rama described the signing of the agreement between the Italian company Fincantieri and the KAYO company, for the construction of warships in Albania, as an important step towards the modernization of the Armed Forces.
The agreement foresees the creation of a new company that will produce ships at the Pashaliman shipyard, in service of the Albanian army and allied countries.
According to Rama, this initiative represents an important moment not only for security and the Armed Forces, but also for the economy and the future of young Albanians.
"What makes this agreement special is the fact that the shipyard industry is changing, and this initiative brings a new vision, creating Italian-Albanian excellence in our territory," the prime minister said.
Rama emphasized that the project will also have a direct impact on the professional training of young people, highlighting the students of the Vlora industrial school, who will be among the first to be included in this project and will be trained by Fincantieri specialists.
According to him, Albania will be the first to benefit from the production of this new company, with the construction of the first two ships for the Armed Forces, bringing the total number of the naval fleet to seven, in accordance with NATO standards for the country's role in the Mediterranean.
Ship production is expected to continue for export, targeting international markets and bringing advanced technology and innovation to the Albanian maritime industry.
