SASPAC/SPAK trial presents new evidence, GJKKO rejects Beqaj's request to
SPAK

Unlike the Sterilization process, in the trial for the abuse of EU funds in SASPAC, Ilir Beqaj will remain in the glass cage. In today's session, the former head of SASPAC repeated the request to stand by his lawyer during the court hearings, but his request was rejected by special judge Elsa Ulliri.

For this process, the former minister is facing 6 charges and the security measure of imprisonment has been set. Unlike the Sterilization process, where Beqaj is being investigated under the measure of compulsory appearance, one of the arguments that the GJKKO used the day before when it decided to release him from the cage.

As for the court session, the Special Prosecution Office presented new evidence to the court. A spreadsheet in Excel format was presented to Judge Elsa Ulliri, with data on the expenses incurred by one of the defendants, Alfred Nikolla, at the "Festa" event, where some of the funds are suspected to have gone.

The new evidence presented to the GJKKO was found on a laptop seized by SPAK during inspections carried out this year. Nikolli is accused of fraud with consequences, forgery of documents and active corruption.

The lawyers requested time to familiarize themselves with this new act, for which reason the Special Court set May 6 at 10:00 for the next session.
