New details have been revealed from the anti-drug operation carried out in Milan and other Italian cities, which led to the arrest of 24 people, among them 16 Albanians, 5 Moroccans and a Tunisian.

In the mega-operation launched two days ago, 40 controls were carried out, hundreds of thousands of euros of income from drug trafficking activities were seized, as well as large quantities of drugs.

Investigations into the group started in 2020, after a letter from the Swiss authorities, and are related to the discovery of the structure of two criminal organizations that cooperated with each other and were run by two Albanian families.

The Italian newspaper " La Repubblica " writes that the Albanian families at the head of the organizations are the families with the surname "Lusha" and "Goseni".

The "Lusha" family, writes the Italian media, had an extension in the Milan area, while the "Goseni" family controlled the Monza area.

Both families had operational ties with Albania. In their homeland, Albanians invested the income from drug trafficking activity, writes the Italian newspaper. Their base was in Milan, but branches spread throughout Northern Italy, as far as Calabria and Switzerland. Heroin and cocaine were trafficked mainly via buses, couriers and trucks.

But not only drugs. From several telephone and environmental interceptions, it was found that some members of the "Goseni" group were managing a prostitution exploitation network in a stable and organized manner.

It is about at least 20 girls from Eastern Europe, who were forced through threats and violence to become prostitutes in apartments managed by criminal organizations, especially in the Milan area. They were also made available on online dating sites.

During the operation that was undertaken in Bergamo, Monza, Brianza, Turin and Verona, 42 kg of heroin, cocaine and hashish, 2 rifles, and 50 thousand euros were seized. An apartment was also identified which was used as a drug refinery as well as a warehouse to store drug loads.
