Cannabis farm with over 600 roots in Leicester

The British court has sentenced an Albanian to about 3 years in prison after he was caught in a "grass house" watering over 600 cannabis roots. It is about citizen Aurel Cahani.

Local media reports that he tried to escape from the police from the roof of the "grass house" but was handcuffed a few minutes later hiding in some bushes near the cannabis farm.

Aureli Cahani had come to England three years ago to work in construction but had encountered difficulties in finding work. He had met in a coffee shop in London, who had offered to work on a cannabis farm.

So, he went to Leicester to live rent-free in the house, with food paid for, while he watered the cannabis plants, which were lit by more than 100 powerful bulbs. When Leicestershire police officers raided the building, they also found the Albanian who was arrested after trying to escape from the police. According to the prosecution file, the cannabis found in the bar's house had a value of 300,000 pounds.

"He agreed to come because he needed the money. He received 1,000 pounds a month, his food was provided and he lived rent-free. While in London he was short of money and in a desperate situation and that was the reason he agreed to come to Leicester in this situation. The only role he had was to water the plants and that he didn't know what situation he got himself into. If we were to ask him now, he would think twice if he would accept such a job" , said his lawyer before the court.

Aurel Cahani will be deported to Albania after completing his prison sentence.
