The Prosecutor's Office of Fier asked for 23 years in prison for the citizen Ilirjan Zeqaj, accused of the serious incident that happened in September 1998 in the village of Cakran where the brothers Gramos and Shkëlqim Llanaj were killed.

The person accused of the incident is in England and is facing an extradition process to Albania, while the court case against him has been closed in the Court of Fier, for the charge of "Premeditated Murder" carried out in collaboration.

A few days ago, the prosecution read the final claim against Ilirjan Zeqaj, asking the Court of Fier to plead guilty and sentence Zeqaj to 23 years in prison.

The verdict of the court is expected to be given during the coming week, while the investigation file talks about a chain of executions carried out in the village of Cakran, a saga that started with the murder of a 9-year-old child.

The author of the murder of the child Úngjëllush Zeqaj was Santiliano Llanaj, the grandson of the two victims Ilirjan alias Leonard Llanaj and Gramoz Llanaj, who in 1998 was a police officer.

Santiliano, at the time of committing the crime, was arrested and then sentenced by the court. But in the investigation file it is said that only three days after this ugly crime, the two brothers Ilirjan Zeqaj and Jetnor Zeqaj, set up an ambush with a machine gun and a light machine gun, executing in the middle of the road the two uncles of Santiliano Llanaj, citizens Gramoz and Shkëlqim Llanaj.

For the serious crime, which happened 24 years ago, the police at that time could only arrest Jetnor Zeqaj, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

While the other brother, the perpetrator in this crime, managed to leave, hiding from justice. Ilirjan Zeqaj, at the beginning of October 2022, was arrested in London and currently he is in a trial process with the aim of extradition to Albania, reports Ora News.

For 24 years in a row, he escaped justice by using names such as Leonard Zeqaj or Klemend Zeqaj. The British media showed that after the dubious release by the courts in Albania, he had managed to illegally enter Great Britain hidden in a truck.
