Chronicle journalist Anila Hoxha has denounced a case she calls absurd, where a mother of three children, ages 4 years, 2 years and 7 months, was arrested upon arriving at Rinas Airport, after being sentenced to two months in prison for violence against her father-in-law.
According to Hoxha, the case of the 34-year-old has presented the Albanian authorities with a difficult situation, due to the presence of three minor children. The mother has insisted on taking the 7-month-old baby and the 2-year-old child with her to the cell, due to their age and need for care. Meanwhile, according to her, the 4-year-old child should also stay with the mother, as he suffers from health problems.
Afterwards, her husband and father-in-law arrived at the police station, taking care of the two older children.
According to the journalist, the amnesty approved a few weeks ago in Parliament did not include the 34-year-old, as authorities assessed that she had avoided the execution of her sentence. For this reason, she was sent to the Institution for the Execution of Criminal Decisions in Pojska, Pogradec.
Hoxha adds that while escorting the woman, the police officers were also emotionally moved and cried about her situation.
Meanwhile, it is reported that today the 2-year-old child is expected to join her in prison, while the 34-year-old woman will serve a two-month prison sentence.
Anila Hoxha's post:
A 34-year-old woman has been a difficult exercise for the authorities all day today. Not because she was wanted and was arrested as soon as she arrived at the airport. Not because she was dangerous. But because of the children, one 4 years old sick, the other 2 years old and the youngest about 7 months old. On her way back from Germany where the two youngest were born, the woman had to be arrested; because she had to serve 2 months in prison announced in her absence.
Charge - domestic violence against father-in-law
The problem for the police, then for the prosecutor who issued the execution order, and then for the prisons was, where would her children go? The mother insisted that the children stay with her, because according to her, she had nowhere to leave them.
"At least leave me the youngest child," she begged.
But I want to have the 2-year-old with me too, he begged. And the third one too, because he's sick.
The prosecutor argues that the decision should have been executed, the woman must serve the 2 months in prison
Of course, the police enforce, they cannot discuss. The court, on the other hand, has spoken in time.
Until the father arrived, and the grandfather - he also wanted the situation resolved
But if the authorities acted because the law demands obedience, the woman should be locked up in prison.
No one disputed that the 2-month prison sentence was included in the amnesty law. But it was considered that he had avoided punishment. To prison
The solution; the woman ended up in Pojska
The policemen fainted and cried a little along with those on the Tirana - Pogradec road.
The little one was left at the breast, the other 2-year-old child is expected to be handed over to prison tomorrow.
The father-in-law has of course forgiven him.
The state has probably pardoned her with an amnesty, but she is in prison tonight, waiting for her other child to join her tomorrow.
So the laws work....
