A serious incident has been recorded in Pogradec. A 12-year-old girl was found to be approximately 22 weeks pregnant after a visit to the Korça hospital.
It is suspected that the minor was forcibly sexually abused by an elderly man.
The latter is thought to have had family acquaintances with the minor's family.
The case was identified after the girl had undergone physical changes, which forced her parents to take her to the hospital for an examination. There, the pregnancy was confirmed.
The police have managed to arrest the elderly man, a 70-year-old man. He is suspected of repeatedly threatening the minor not to tell the incident.
Currently, investigative actions are being carried out by Korça police officers.
They questioned the family members, while the girl admitted to the incident in the presence of a psychologist.
