Fiks Fare/ A serious case reported by the parent of a 7th grade student at the 9-year "Vadardhe" school in Sukth has led to a clash between the school's stance and supervisory institutions.
While the school principal denies that there was bullying, the Social Services and the Ombudsman confirm that the case has been handled and is being monitored.
The parent claims that his daughter has been bullied by her peers for months. According to him, one of the most serious episodes was when a letter was stuck to her back with the inscription "I am stupid." On other occasions, she was insulted with words such as "ignorant."
He says the situation has significantly affected the emotional state of the girl, who has withdrawn into herself, no longer expresses her concerns and does not want to go to school. According to the parent, the girl told him that if there had been an immediate reaction from her parents and the school, the situation would not have reached this point.
Feeling unsupported, he complained to the Ombudsman, the Ministry of Education, and local educational structures. The responses received acknowledged that the complaint had been reviewed, but denied the existence of bullying.
During an interview, the school principal stated that these were ordinary conflicts between students and not ongoing bullying. According to him, the students reconciled in the presence of their parents, psychologist, teacher in charge, and school administrators.
He emphasizes that one of the girls has admitted to using offensive words, has apologized, and a statement has been signed by both parties to not repeat such behavior. The principal adds that the student has not suffered a drop in her grades and that the situation is being followed up by the school psychologist.
However, he denies that there was systematic bullying, describing the situation as a momentary conflict. Contrary to the school's stance, other institutional structures have taken concrete steps.
The Ombudsman has confirmed that it has conducted an administrative investigation, requesting explanations from the school directorate, the Durrës Regional Directorate of Pre-University Education and the Child Protection Unit in the Municipality of Durrës. According to the official response, the case will continue to be monitored.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Social Services in the Municipality of Durrës, in its report, emphasizes that at the meeting of the Intersectoral Technical Group, it was decided: Continuous monitoring of the girls' behavior by the school psychologist; Educational work by the teacher in charge on the language of respect; Organization of an awareness-raising meeting on bullying at school.
This case highlights that bullying is often minimized as “bullying between children,” while the emotional consequences can be profound. Although the school principal denies the term “bullying,” the very fact that the case was handled by several institutions and placed under constant monitoring shows that the situation was not considered trivial.
Beyond official statements and formulations, the well-being of a child remains at the center. Any alarm signal in school environments requires a quick and serious response, because behind every such case lies an emotional state that should not be neglected.
