A serious domestic crime shocked the country on Tuesday morning (December 24) when wife Elvira Tahiraj, suspected of having mental health problems, massacred her husband with an axe in the early hours of the morning.

The lifeless body of the victim, Llazar Tahiraj, was found by the couple's young daughter, who fainted the moment she discovered the serious crime.

The headman of the village of Metoqi, in an interview for the show "With an Open Heart" by moderator Evis Ahmeti, stated that the father had sent his little girl to sleep with her sister after her mother's health had deteriorated.

"I'll take care of her tonight," the victim had told his daughter, according to the village headman.

"Elvira was suffering from epilepsy and didn't go out much. The couple's son-in-law informed me of the news, he called me at 08:30. It was the daughter who found the body, after she had gone to sleep at her sister's, which she did whenever her mother's health deteriorated. She was the one who also found the father around 08:00-08:30 in the morning. The daughter fainted and was immediately taken to the hospital. Lazar was a very hard worker, working 2-3 jobs to raise the girls," he said.

In the interview, the headman said: "The girl stayed inside with her mother more, she was not sociable. She only stayed at home with her mother."
