The former officer of the RENEA ward, Remal Rada, who was arrested during the last police operation codenamed "Double Strike", left his post 6 months ago. He had only 4 days since he had returned from England to Albania, where he was driving a luxury vehicle with English license plates in Tirana.
While yesterday evening, the criminal police noticed abnormal actions of the former RENEA operative in the parking lot of a bar on Elbasani street.
He was together with Elton Hithin, a 28-year-old man from Laknas, previously convicted by the Tirana court for "violent theft".
A third person gave him a bag, and former officer Remal Rada together with Elton Hith put him inside the car.
They then left in the direction of Elbasani street, where they were stopped by a police checkpoint "Shqiponja", the operative and officers of police station No. 1.
Inside the bag, the police found a modern sniper rifle and the corresponding ammunition. Remal Rada, according to OraNews, initially claimed to his former colleagues that he knew they had given him clothes, but then preferred not to speak on the record.
The same position was held by Elton Hithi, who was in the first passenger seat, when the police intervened.
Elton Hithi confessed to the police that he had taken the bag from a person, without telling him the name, who told him that it was sports clothes.
But in the red bag, illegal items like sniper rifle and ammunition of different calibers were found. The police are now conducting investigations to discover the third person who delivered the bag with weapons, to the other two persons who preferred not to reveal their names.
At the same time, the police searched the house of the former RENEA operative, where it turned out that he was also carrying a weapon in the apartment.
In the house, the police seized an illegal pistol, various ammunition, binoculars, vehicle license plates, and symbols of the State Police. This is not the first case that members of RENEA and other special units in the police department, arrested by their colleagues, were implicated in criminal activity.
