The actors of the National Theater have written a letter to Prime Minister Rama and the Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti, where they ask for an increase in their salaries, just as was done with the Opera and Ballet Theater, as well as with the People's Assembly.

In the letter, which bears the signature of some of the most prominent actors, such as Laert Vasili, Arben Derhemi, Elia Zaharia, Naun Shundi and Ndriçim Xhepa, it is emphasized that the government's response is expected by August 13, otherwise the actors vow to escalate the attitude of theirs.

"Convinced of this, we will patiently wait for your reaction until August 31, 2022. If we then notice that this thing will pass into indifference, that is, it was done intentionally, then we will escalate our actions to protect human dignity and artistic", says the letter.

PRIME MINISTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF ALBANIA

MRS. ELVA MARGARITI

MINISTER OF CULTURE

Dear Mr. Prime Minister,

Dear Ms. Ministry of Culture,

A few days ago, the artistic troupe of the National Theater found with great pleasure that the troupe

artistic (and not only) of the National Theater of Opera, Ballet and Popular Ensemble

(TKOBAP), his salary was increased from 15% to 57%. We were happy for our colleagues and at the same time

we grieved immeasurably for ourselves. It is the first time in the history of this country that these two

national institutions are treated differently. In the way it works and how

the salary system was built, these institutions were always evaluated within a framework

legal. In this case, with the intervention of the Council of Ministers, this changed and TKOBAP

is categorized in a new salary system, while TK is not! Unacceptable! Not yet given

a public explanation for this.

In the meantime, we inform you that the National Theater, all these years, has been the vanguard of

public art institutions. In the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons, TK, in its calendar, has been

at the top of the ranking in terms of attendance of spectators. Then, with all the difficulties that u

created, since the "battle" for the Theater, the demolition of the old TK building, the relocation to ArTurbina

and the pandemic, today we are managing again, thanks to an extraordinary work, to completely fill the ArTurbina hall. This post-pandemic artistic season, we have participated and have

performed in very large and difficult productions, where we can mention: "Coriolanus"

by U. Shakespeare, "Edmond" by A. Mishalik, "Animal Farm" by J. Oruel, "Anniversary of

Dielindjas" by D. Eldrixh. Rehearsals for the production "Ivanov" by A.Chehov have also started. THESE

they are large works that require extraordinary work, where a large part of the actors, apart from rehearsals, perform every week, from Wednesday to Sunday, and close the season with around 40-50 performances. Then why this discrimination, Mr. Prime Minister?

Anyway, we would like this to be just a matter of time and this decision will be approved for us soon in the new state budget, where we will expect a salary increase for our institution as well. Convinced of this, we will patiently wait for your response until August 31, 2022. If we then notice that this matter will pass into indifference, that is, it is done intentionally, then we will escalate our actions to protect human dignity and artistic. We are waiting for your answer.

With respect,

Dritan Boriçi, Laert Vasili, Arben Derhemi, Olta Daku, Besmir Bitraku, Anila Bisha, Donald Shehu, Ardian Cerga, Niada Saliasi, Ndriçim Xhepa, Ina Gjonci, Lulzim Zeqa, Dori Çaushi, Helidon Fino, Laedia Hajdari, Armand Bora, Neritan Liçaj , Flaura Kureta, Elia Zaharia, Gladiola Harizaj, Naun Shundi, Erjona Kakeli, Myzafer Zifla
