The serious event that happened on Thursday evening in Italy, where an Albanian was killed by his neighbor, came as a result of old grudges between the parties.
This is what the neighboring media reports, according to which, before the crime, between the 59-year-old Albanian Gëzim Dodoli and Sandro Mugnai, the 53-year-old Italian, there were constant conflicts, from words to actions.
The Albanian took his excavator and tried to destroy the neighbor's house. The latter, seeing what was happening, took the shotgun and shot the 59-year-old to death.
La Nazione also brings the dynamics of the event.
Around 8:30 p.m. on January 5, Sandro Mugnai was having dinner at his house. The 2 daughters of the 53-year-old man and other people were at the table. At one point they hear a noise. The house was shaking from the impact of the heavy vehicle.
In an attempt to demolish his house, the Albanian damaged 4 vehicles on the way. It then hit the first floor windows as well as the roof. At this moment, Mugnai stood up, took the shotgun and shot several times in the direction of the Albanian. At least 3 bullets destroyed the glass of the excavator and also hit the 59-year-old Albanian.
In addition to the shots, the screams of those in the house could be heard, as well as the engine of the excavator that was still running while Dodoli was in agony. When the carabinieri and firefighters arrived at the scene, the 59-year-old man had passed away. Mugnai was taken to Arezzo police while authorities turned off the vehicle and helped the family out of the heavily damaged home. Later, the apartment was declared uninhabitable.
According to what the Italian media reports, between the neighbors who were once quite friends, at least from what has been learned so far, the agreements were born for banal reasons, such as the volume of the music or the bad smell from the pipes. However, no one thought that the situation could escalate to this point.
Mugnai is in prison. Meanwhile, on Monday he will appear before the court for the assessment of the security measure. His defense lawyers, according to the Italian media, announced that they will teach the fact that the 53-year-old committed the crime in self-defense. According to them, the impact of the roof made the apartment uninhabitable, while it could have collapsed and killed the people inside it.
"We heard the sound of the metal hitting the cars and then he, when he realized what was happening, shot," said one of the arrested's children.
Gëzim Dodoli was married and had 2 children. He had gone to Italy with his family over 30 years ago.
