The Greek media revealed the details of the macabre crime on New Year's Eve in Veria, where an 11-month-old baby was found dead in the dam of a reservoir.
The 29-year-old mother of the baby, who threw her into a dam in Aliakmonas, is accused of this crime. She is accused of intentionally killing her baby.
But the performed autopsy shows that the baby died from suffocation.
The woman allegedly took a taxi from the village of Stavros Imathias on December 31, with the baby in her arms, and headed to the place where she threw him into the water. Then the 29-year-old left for Alexandria and stayed in a hotel, where she spent New Year's Eve.
As soon as the day dawned, the young woman returned to the house where she lived with the baby, grandmother and grandfather.
The taxi driver who took him from the Aliakmonas dam reported that he received a call from the dam center and from there he picked up the woman who told him to take her to the KTEL area of Thessaloniki in Veroia.
"She didn't seem upset, she didn't have a child with her. He sat in the back seats and said nothing the whole way. Her behavior was quite normal, normal. I took it from the main road, in front of the bridge," said the taxi driver, who was called by the police for a statement.
