The Socialist Party has made public the proposal for the new administrative-territorial reform, which envisages the merger of 15 municipalities and their unification with larger municipalities.
The draft aims to reorganize the local government map, with the argument of increasing administrative efficiency and improving service delivery.
According to the proposal, the municipalities of Fushe-Arrëz, Klos, Rrogozhinë, Dimal, Poliçan, Patos, Divjakë, Selenica, Maliq, Këlcyrë, Memaliaj, Libohëvë, Cërrik, Belsh and Përrenjas will be merged and joined to their respective larger municipalities.

One of the changes that has sparked reactions is the one that foresees the merger of the Municipality of Prrenjas with the Municipality of Librazhd.
This proposal comes despite the opposition of Prrenjas residents, who have protested against this decision, demanding that their municipality not be merged and arguing that such a change would negatively impact representation and services for citizens.

The Socialists' proposal is expected to be discussed within the framework of the new administrative-territorial reform, while it remains to be seen whether there will be changes after consultations with interest groups and political debate before final approval.
