The prison of Rrogozhina has reacted after the escape of a convict, who had gone out on unpaid leave. It is about the 46-year-old Erjon Markol (Markola), convicted of intentional serious injury. Markola was previously convicted in Albania and Germany for the criminal offense of "Deliberate serious injury".
The Institution for the Execution of Criminal Decisions (IEVP) Rrogozhinë announces that the citizen Erjon Markol (Markola), 46 years old resident in Tirana, did not appear at the appointed time after the end of the rewarding leave.
This citizen was convicted by decision No. 2844, dated 01.12.2022 of the Tirana Judicial District Court, for the criminal offense provided for in article 76/22 of the Criminal Code. He currently has 3 years and 11 months of imprisonment left to serve.
According to the regulation, he is a beneficiary of paid leave and should return to the institution on 02.12.2024, at 13:00. His non-appearance within the deadline has forced IEVP Rrogozhin to file a criminal report for this case, charging him with the criminal offense of "Leaving the place of serving the sentence" provided for by Article 323 of the Criminal Code, and the relevant materials have been forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office for actions further.
Regardless of this event, the General Directorate of Prisons is dedicated and engaged in rehabilitation and reintegration programs for convicts and detainees.
