The Memorandum of Cooperation for the construction of the tourist port of Durrës was signed today.

The investment of two billion dollars is a collaboration between "Eagle Hills Real Estate Development" shpk, represented by the world-famous investor and developer Muhammed El Alabbar and "Albanian Seaports Development Company".

In his speech at the ceremony, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that this is the largest tourist investment in the region.

Prime Minister Edi Rama described the construction of the tourist port of Durrës as a strategic investment that will forever change the country's economy.

According to the head of the government, the unprecedented investment in the country exceeding 2 billion dollars will make Durrës the largest tourist port in the Mediterranean and a twin of Dubai's marina.

The investment, said Rama, in addition to creating thousands of jobs, will increase the value of property in the entire Durrës beach.

"With the construction of this port, the property value of all the citizens of Durrës will increase exponentially, the value of all the hotels on the coastline will increase. This is about the completely different image that Albania will have in the world. Durrës will be the largest port of the Mediterranean, it will be the twin port of Dubai's navy. This port opens a new perspective. The Albanian state in this port will not be as it was once imagined as simply the ethnicity that gives the land to an investor, the Albanian state will be a shareholder there. The state is a partner when those who negotiate think about the state and not about themselves," said Rama.

The opposition has accused the project of lack of transparency and it is not clear who is behind this investment.
