The fire situation in the country is critical.

Within the last few hours, 37 active fires have been reported throughout Albania, with rapid fire spread and high risk to homes.

The regions of Vlora, Dibër, Berat, Tirana, Gjirokastër, Elbasan, Shkodër, Kukës, Korçë and Lezha are all involved in this crisis, while the fires have forced the evacuation of several areas.

The Vlora region remains one of the hardest hit.

In Delvina, the fire has entered the Kasapaj neighborhood, threatening homes. Two Czech and Slovak helicopters have been deployed in the operations. In Finiq, the fires have spread to Syrin i Kaltër, Pecë, Sirakat, Kardhikaq and towards Delvina. The situation is also critical in Tremul where homes are at risk, while on the Sopot mountain the flames are advancing towards Gjirokastra.

The Dibër region is facing powerful fires in Ternovo and Mali me Gropa, where the wind is helping to spread near the Black Lake. Dozens of army and municipal forces have been deployed, but the mountainous terrain is making intervention difficult.

In Berat, several villages are on alert. In Vokopolë, the flames destroyed 6 homes (3 uninhabited), while in Rehovo, the homes of Çorogjafi are at risk. In Velçan, air support is required to contain the spread.

Tirana has several active fires, including the Bërzhitë mountain and the Vaqarr area, where the fire has engulfed the hills. Field operations are underway with dozens of firefighters and police forces.

In Gramsh, the situation is dramatic: the flames are approaching the village of Nartë and an evacuation order has been issued. Helicopters are operating over the area, but the increasing intensity of the fire has led to the concentration of all the capacities of the district.

In Gjirokastra and Tepelena, some villages were saved at the last moment, but the losses are heavy, two livestock stables, a cow, two calves and a horse were burned.

In other regions such as Shkodër, Kukës, Korçë and Lezha, the fires are being kept under monitoring, although in some areas the mountainous terrain, lack of equipment and wind are making extinguishing almost impossible.
